Primary Sources for PSA
This is, obviously, an advertisement of cat food. A cute cat in the middle of this picture is eating the cat food with great pleasure. The background and the cat form a obvious contrast in color, since all the kitchen is in white color, while the cat is grey with stripes. The contrast in color can easily draw our attention to the cat at the first sight, which will lead us to see the cat's tail. It's what I found interesting in this advertisement. The tail was made to make a heart shape, and we can get the direct impression about the cat's feeling about cat food. She likes the food so much, so her tail becomes heart-shaped to tell other how enjoyable and happy she is when eating the fatanstic cat food.
This is another advertisement, which was made by Burger King. The background is black, while the hanbueger and words on the right are both in bright colors. We would look at the hamburger first due to the color contrast. Also we would easily notice the Big Mac's box under the Whooper. From the words on the right, we can see the purpose to make such an advertisement. It wants to convey that the Whooper is bigger than the Big Mac. This advertisement has a very sharp theme, and it's really agressive to Mcdonals, which we can simply figure out by the first glance of this advertisement.

I think those are great choices for pictures! To be honest, I'm a little confused with the assignment myself, but i will try to give you my best feedback! I'm not sure if the photots have to relate (other than the fact they both do with food) but after submitting mine, I am getting the feeling they dont actually ahve to be about similar things... In which case this is perfect! I can definitely tell that you put thought into this and were looking at contrasts and things that stand out to make the ads more effective. The pictures you chose are most definitely manageable in size and they are very interesting.
I think that both choices would work fine, although you would have to push your analysis quite far in both cases. By that, I mean neither advert has a lot of detail, and so you would have explore what is in them in quite some depth in order to come up with two pages. For instance, in your cat advert, why the choice of a grey tabby, when many other ads use exotic, expensive cats like persians and siamese? Why use the tail to communicate the cat's emotions? Why foreground the cat's feelings about the food? Why worry that it likes it? What does that say about how we view our pets, and about our relationships with them?
Of the two, I prefer the cat one. I think it gives you more space for a creative and interesting paper. You should go for what you find most interesting, though.
Both of your pictures are very interesting. I enjoy the way your analyze them. As our assignment's require, I like the first one better since you may discover more information about it. For example, food can affect mood, body language can tell waht others' feeling, etc.
Looking at your two sources, I prefer the first one. The picture of the cat is really funny and the contrast between cat and environment is quite obvious. The most attractive thing is the heart shape tail. As your analyze, it can show how much the cat love the food.
